A crocodile would be a peculiar pet to you or I, but perhaps not so on Mindano, an island in the southern Philippines. It was there, early in the summer of 2006, that a 12-year-old boy was fortunate to survive the attack of his pet croc, who snapped at the child after it poked and threw pebbles at the reptile. The 2.1-metre crocodile was being kept illegally, and officials also found the same boy, who lived near an elementary school, was keeping a pet python in his house, too.
