Ironically, a so-called "portable" laptop a decade ago - such as the such as the HP Compaq Presario 2100 or Toshiba Satellite 1100-S101 -- wasn't able to last more than 2.5 to 3 hours on a single charge. Therefore, it was a good idea to bring the AC plug with you whenever you left the house with the laptop. Thanks to better batteries, energy-efficient processors and smarter software, today's laptops last two or three times longer than they did in 2002. Tablets are can last more than 10 hours between charges.
